NFL Insider names Titans WR Treylon Burks as post-draft trade candidate

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks has endured plenty of trials and tribulations since he was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Burks has dealt with injuries and inconsistencies since arriving in Nashville. As head coach Brian Callahan looks to implement his system with his preferred roster pieces, many are wondering whether or not Burks will be a Titan when Week One rolls around.

Having missed 12 games in his two seasons with the Titans, Burks has not been a model of consistency. Even when he was on the field in 2023 his production was lackluster at best.

Burks totaled just 16 catches for 221 yards last season, but has just one career receiving touchdown to his name. Tennessee added Calvin Ridley in free agency, but the team's decisions to bring in veteran free agents Tyler Boyd and Zay Jones, who both have ties to the coaching staff, for visits does not bode well for Burks' future in Music City.

NFL Insider Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team recently released an article mentioning Burks as a potential post-draft trade candidate.

From The 33rd Team: " The Tennessee Titans signed Calvin Ridley to a massive contract in free agency, adding him alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks.

Despite that, they still have quietly been in the receiver market, and there was some talk in league circles that they considered Rome Odunze with the No. 7 pick before settling on Alabama OT JC Latham.

After the draft, they scheduled a meeting with Bengals free agent WR Tyler Boyd. Tennessee’s actions seem to indicate that its front office, which didn't draft Burks, and its new coaching staff aren’t too high on the former first-round pick, so he could be available."

Burks has not been effective lining up out wide with the Titans. The thought is that by moving him inside to the slot, which is where he did most of his damage at Arkansas, could help him break out in 2024.

However with Tennessee's recent interest in Boyd and Jones, who both have plenty of experience operating out of the slot, indicate that Callahan and Co. might not view Burks as an integral piece in the offense moving forward.
